| Gary Jones. Being a Yamaha rider, who did not look up to him. Three 250 National Championships on three different brands. I'll never forget a 250 National I rode in Georgia in '76 on my trusty ol' YZ175. Bike ran like crap and I had to run the LCQ. They only took the top two and I was running second the whole race. Marty Tripes was leading. Somebody was on my ass the whole race but I never looked back. Friggin' guy passed me coming out of the last turn. Holy crap, it was Gary Jones on his Can-Am. That was the happiest loss I ever had. It was the only National I did not qualify for. My dad (for those who know him) was pissed and put me on a plane to get home instead of riding in the van with him! |

Steve Wise is my favorite , I went to high school in in Alice , Steve Wise lived 2 hours south of here in McAllen and raced the "local" circut 1st Sunday Beeville, 2nd Sunday Corpus Christi, 3rd Sunday Kingsville, and 4th Sunday McAllen. Steve's mechanic Jimmy Strait, was almost as fast as him. Steve started out on a 100 Penton with a" W " on the # plate and would beat any hotshoe that challanged him no matter what size or class ! When his dad bought a Honda shop he started riding a Elsinore 250. Steve was never a smartass, never got an "I'm better that you attitude", Just a great personallity....He Sported # 329N on the Elsiore, his AMA number. I drew #247N and still use it today 35 years later. I watched Wayman Priddy have his worst crash trying to stay ahead of Steve at Kingsville in 74' ....Steve is a Class act!. km _________________ # 247 "maximum build" 74 Husky CR 400, 75 CZ 250 Center Port Works Bike , 81 465 YZ , 71 Hodaka Super Rat , 73 CZ 400 "spare bike" Had a couple modern bikes , sold em'...no fun !! |

| Steve Stackable rode for Addicks Cycle in the '70's, which was in the old Addicks township, located at the corner of I-10 and Hwy 6. |

| MR Navarro, Stackable never rode for Addicks Cycle. True, they were a CZ dealer.I think Brian Fox had support through them.Steve rode for Action Supply on a AMP-CZ, that was a BOYD-STELLING framed Hybrid that we put together, Action Supply was a Motorcycle Wholesaler owned by RED WALLING. After that Steve rode for Me--- U.S. SPORTS. We manufactured --Swingarms,Handlebars and were the U.S. suppliers for NORTH STAR MX BOOTS. U.S. SPORTS was in 70's what PRO CIRCUIT is now. WE traveled the National Circuit for several years. And this was no poor privateer operations. This was a Crew cab GMC with 40ft-5th-wheeler,with shop and living quarters. In the days when FACTORIES traveled in vans. Yes, those were the days that greased the wheels for STEVE and HIS FACTORY MAICO RIDE-------CW SLEZAK------P.S. Dfrazer, drop me a line one day we'll talk about old times since you rode for me. Bill was my G.M. and is a WANTED MAN! |

I'm sorry.....Yes, I stand corrected. I guess I had Action and Addicks confused.
Thanks for the info.
Hey Richard, good to hear from you!
I bought an '89 YZ250 a couple of weeks ago and I'm looking to get back in to riding again. Hopefully the new Springtowne Motocross track opens soon. |
